Ann Bailey, also spelled Anne Bailey |
On the Greenbrier River near White
Sulfur Springs Near Lewisburg, opened 1928, used as a
National Training Camp for leaders in 1938. In 1935, it was the only GS camp
in West Virginia.

Oh, I was surprised you didn't have a picture of a patch from Camp Ann
Bailey in West Virginia. I spent many a happy summer week there. My most
vivid memory is of frogs in the swimming pool - the pool was feed by a
freshwater creek, I suppose, which is why every morning we would find frogs
from the creek happily swimming around in the pool. We would net them out
of the pool and take them back to the creek before diving in with our "swim
buddy"!

Photo of me from
Camp Anne Bailey around 1960-61 The building was the nurse's cabin. I went
to camp there one week as a Brownie and had wonderful time! I caught my
first fish that week, learned to tie a square knot, and made banana boats;
skills I never forgot and went on to teach girls as a Girl Scout Leader.
