It doesn't matter if you called them Barrettes, Hair Clips or whatever - Girl Scout and Brownie barrettes have long been a favorite of girls and ladies alike!

The first "hair clip" offered in the Girl Scout catalogs, 1939-1940

No barrettes were offered during World War II

1946 in red, green, yellow and white versions

Also Brownie versions in red, yellow and white.

1950-1978 - Plastic trefoil shaped barrettes first offered as topaz, emerald and ruby - later simply called yellow, green and red.
