Girl Scout Handbooks through the ages

Although the Girl Scouts have published many types of books over the year, the basic "Girl Scout Handbook" remains the most familiar book in the Girl Scout library.  The content many change - more of this, less of that, the overall message of Girl Scouting has remained the same.

This page contains handbooks, badge books, leader's guides and other related books.

(Although these books all look the same size - they aren't. It's just how I scanned them.)

The 1963 era Senior handbook disappeared from the GS catalog in 1973, the Junior handbook in 1977, Brownie in 1978 and the Cadette finally disappeared in 1980.

As the 1963 Senior Girl Scout handbook was phased out, Options appeared for Seniors, 1974

The Worlds to Explore handbook was for Brownies AND Juniors.

As the new "Worlds to Explore" program was rolled out the Junior Badges and Signs book was simply the 1963 era Junior Badges and Signs program.
